INTRODUCING ST. RAYMOND'S UPK SENSORY SPACESBrand new to our UPK program this year are two Sensory Corners for our UPK 3 and UPK 4 students. Melissa Adderley, our Assistant Director for UPK Instruction, created the Sensory Corners. "Our Sensory Corners will provide a safe and controlled environment where students can explore their senses, helping them develop self-regulation skills and manage overstimulation," says Ms. Adderley." Integrating sensory spaces in educational settings represents a progressive step towards a more inclusive and supportive learning environment." Our Sensory Corners are equipped with soft flexible seating and flooring, visual and tactile items, noise canceling headphones and many other items that support diverse learning needs.

A blue box that will pop up that says Start School Supply Shopping Now.
Underneath that, it will say Find your school: and you will prompt you to enter the school's name and zip code. Input St. Raymond Elementary 10462 and the school's name will pop up.
Click on that and you will see an illustration of boxes for Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Click on the box for the grade that your child is going into. You will see a list of all the items required for that grade, the quantity for each supply and total cost of all required supplies. Enter the child's first and last name on the left. Click Add to Cart to order items for your child.
If you have more than one child in K-8, click on Continue Shopping and then use the Back arrow to select the grade of your next child. The process is the same for all grades. When you are finished, you can View Cart and then Checkout. -

bubbles galore! bubble dad visits upkBubble Dad performed for all six of our UPK classes on Wednesday, May 21. Due to the rain, the event was held in the auditorium. Below, our UPK 3-year-olds enjoy watching bubbles of various sizes and shapes being created.

51 FAITHFUL receive the sacrament of confirmationCongratulations to the newly confirmed students and adults who received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Raymond Church on Thursday evening, May 20, 2025. Our pastor Father James Cruz presented the candidates to the Most Reverend Robert Bishop Brennan of the Diocese of Brooklyn, who served as celebrant. Forty-six students (28 from the Elementary School and 18 from the parish’s CCD program) and 5 adults from the parish’s RCIA program were the confirmandi. May God bless them as they continue on their faith journey.

SPORTS DAY AT ST. rAYMOND!Monday, May 18 was Sports Day at St. Raymond. Faculty and student teams played against each other during the day. Below, faculty and students in Grades 2-5, and Mr. Hyman and Mrs. Teron, join in the fun. The day was also a dress down day to raise money for our volley ball teams.

ST. RAYMOND'S JUNIOR CHOIR PEFORMS AT ICSF GALA 5/13/25Our Junior Choir was once again invited to perform at the Inner-City Scholarship Fund Gala on Tuesday, May 13. 2025 at Cipriani in New York City. Three of our students, Sherline Pichardo Cabrera of Class 5-207, Khloe' Ola'n of Class 8-303 and Thomas Garcia IV of Class 8-308, sang a solo. Click here to see the choir's performance. 8TH GRADE HONORS CLASS TOURS LITTLE ITALY OF THE BRONXOn Tuesday, May 6, our Italian teacher Mrs. Casale took the 8th Grade Honors class on a tour of Little Italy in the Arthur Avenue/Belmont section of the Bronx. Dr. Bacigalupo, the 8th Grade Honors teacher, and Ms. Nole, the school's Advancement Director, accompanied the class. The tour was organized by Feast Travel and led by their tour guide Laura Giannini.
Ms. Giannini spoke about the Italian immigrants who moved to Arthur Avenue in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and founded family businesses, some that are still in operation. She also told the history of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, which was built so that the Italians who had settled into the area could have their own local church with the Mass said in Italian. Today, Mass is said in both Italian and Spanish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
In addition to the church, Ms. Giannini led the group to the Arthur Avenue Market and to various shops that have been in existence for decades or longer. She also spoke about films that were shot in the area. The students and adults were given tastings of cannoli at Madonia Bakery, boccancini and prosciutto at Joe's Deli, and bread and breadsticks at Addeo Bakery. Lunch at Mario's restaurant was included.
Thank you to Mrs. Casale and Feast Travel for organizing the tour; to Ms. Giannini for her friendly and insightful tour of the area; and to the staffs of Mario's restaurant and all the shops who welcomed our group and shared their delicious offerings with us.
